Ofcom has opened applications for the Community Radio Fund for 2025 to 2026. The scheme supports the long-term sustainability of community radio stations across the UK.
The fund totals £901,742 this year, including £900,000 in new funding and £1,742 in returned funds. It is managed by Ofcom and funded through the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.
Applications are open to not-for-profit stations broadcasting on AM and FM, as well as those operating under a Community Digital Sound Programme licence on digital multiplex platforms.
Ofcom has confirmed there will be one funding round instead of two. The regulator says the change follows an increase in available funding and is intended to give applicants more time to prepare submissions while improving the efficiency of the process.
Stations are advised to review the official guidance notes before applying. Applications must be submitted by 5pm on 5 October.
The Community Radio Fund Panel is expected to meet in early January 2026 to assess applications and allocate funding.
The scheme has been running since 2005 and provides financial support to help community stations deliver local programming and social gain within their areas.
