Gaydio on East Manchester DAB opens new Manchester studios for 20th anniversary

LGBTQ plus radio station Gaydio, which broadcasts on East Manchester DAB, has opened new studios in Manchester as it marks 20 years on air. The move places the broadcaster closer to the city’s community and expands its digital output.

The new headquarters overlook Manchester’s Gay Village and include three fully visualised studios designed to support both radio and video production. The upgrade allows the station to increase its online content and audience engagement.

The project is the largest single investment in the station’s history. Funding has come from The Big Issue Investment Fund, Warner Music Group, OVO Energy and internal resources.

A key feature of the site is the Gaydio Academy. The programme will offer training, mentoring and practical experience for people looking to build careers in broadcasting and media. It is aimed at supporting emerging LGBTQ plus talent with access to industry standard equipment.

Kriss Herbert Noble, network content director at Gaydio, said the new base reflects both the station’s heritage and future direction. He said “We are incredibly proud to be opening these new studios in such an iconic location for our community, especially as we celebrate 20 years of Gaydio.”

He added “This investment is about the future, giving our audiences more ways to connect with us through fully visual content.”

The station said the move also supports the growth of its team, with new management roles and full time positions across content and commercial operations.
